Page numbers incorrect after conversion from Excel to pdf

I have been using Adobe Standard for years to convert multi-tab Excel files to pdf.  I have the footer set up to number page X of Y at the bottom of each page.  I can print to pdf and the page numbers are correct.  However, if I use the Convert to pdf add-in, the pages each show page 1 of 1 at the bottom.  This began when I bought a new workstation with Office 2010 and Adobe X standard.  I have spent 3 hours with Adobe tech support personnel trying to fix it only to have them come back to say that that functionality no longer exists with Adobe X, but then to have them escalate the issue to a higher level.

Is anyone else having this issue?  I would like a solution, rather than a workaround, since this software isn't cheap and this is basically the only thing we use it for.

I have earlier versions of Adobe but they're not compatible with Office 2010 so it seems I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place!

Please let me know if there is futher detail needed or if anyone has any insight!

Acrobat 9 Standard missing paper sizes.

I recently had Acrobat 9 Standard installed on my work computer.  Previously I had CS4 with Acrobat Pro installed but had to transfer the license to a coworker.  I'm now frustrated because all of the page sizes that I typically use are gone.  All fo the Arch and Ansi sizes are missing.  In the print preferences dialog I tried to add a new page size called Arch E1 and I got an error saying "Not allowed to modify system or printer defined paper size (Arch E1).  Only user defined paper size can be modified or deleted."  Apparently acrobat knows that Arch E1 is a standard paper size but its not available in the paper size selection menu.  I can go through and make a bunch of new custom paper sizes and give them alternate names but that's a little bit frustrating to have to go through and set up my own paper sizes when Acrobat already knows they exist.  I guess my question is how do I get Acrobat 9 Standard to show the Arch and Ansi paper sizes?

adobe lock issue 02112010.JPG

we have a pdf document that has been "marked up" with sticky notes, pencil marks and text boxes by two users, user1 and user2.  The commenters (those two users who did the "marking up") did not lock their comments.  User1 and User2 were using acrobat 8 standard.  When the document was forwarded to the third user, the comments icon in comment view have a small padlock symbol on their respective icon, see inserted image.  Due to privacy considerations, I have redacted the names on the document.  When the properties sheet is opened for any of these comments, the locked checkbox is NOT checked.  However the comment CANNOT be changed or deleted.

Any ideas/suggestions/hints will be greatly appreciated.

The pdf command can be getted in this:

http://partners.adobe.com/public/developer/en/acrobat/PDFOpenParameter s.pdf

I open a local pdf file in IE with pdf command "#Page=3&Pagemode=thumbs" firstly, and then I open the same pdf file without pdf command in other IE, but the second times the pdf file in WebBrowser still show page=3, other than page=1.

That is to say, the pdf command will affect others WebBrowser process after set .

We recently upgraded our image server to Windows 2008 R2.  Our old server had Adobe Acrobat pro 6 and we had no trouble opening diffent type of image files - specifically TIFF files in Adobe.

I have been told that there are issues with Adobe X and Windows servers.  Can you please advise which product would be the best to purchase to run on a server and terminal server.

Thank you

Hello,

I'm having a problem with a single machine running Acrobat 7 Std that was bundled with MS Office Basic on a Dell Optiplex. XP SP2, 1 GB RAM, specs should be ok.

The user keeps getting the error "Application Failed to Load its Core DLL". A restart will temporarily fix the issue but it comes back. All updated have been applied.

Any ideas?

THANKS!!!

I am getting the following error on Adobe Reader 7.0.9.  "Acrobat failed to load it's core dll" The OS is Windows NT.  I have reinstalled the software, but still get the message.

After Latest Update, Acrobat no longer works

Yesterday the Adobe updater came up saying that there were some updates to install. After installing the updates, Acrobat now comes up with a Fatal Error. It said something to the effect Acrobat failed to load its core dll file and I also got an error saying:
acrodist.exe - Application Error
The application failed to initialize properly (0xc000022). Click OK to terminate the application.

Here is my setup:
Design Premium CS4 with Acrobat 9 Pro

Windows Vista Ultimate

I tried running a repair re-install and that didn't work. Still get the same error. If someone can help with this it would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks

Unable to find Adobe PDF resource files/Expired Certificate

A user running CS4 is unable to use the Save As PDF (the Acrobat COM Add-on - not the native Office feature) function from Office 2007. The error displayed is:

Unable to find "Adobe PDF" resource files.

"Acrobat PDFMaker"

You must have Administrator privileges to install these files. Please contact your local system administrator."

I have done the repair install with no change. This error still occurs.

In researching this issue I visited the Office Trust Center and found that the Adobe Systems, Incorporated VeriSign Class 3 Code Signing 2004 CA certificate expired on 11/5/2009. The user believes this is when the error started to occur.

Is the certificate the cause of this error? Is there a newer code signing certificate available?

Any other suggestions on getting this issue resolved?

Blank dialog boxes in Acrobat X Pro

I just installed CS5.5 Design Pro. So far everything looks like it's working properly except for Acrobat X Pro. Documents come up just fine, but when I select Print, the dialog box is missing text. The screen shot, below, shows what I get. Dialog boxes in the other programs of the Suite show text.

Many months ago, before getting CS5.5, I installed Acrobat Reader X. I had the same problem with it, no text in the dialog boxes. Thought it may be a bug that would be fixed when I ordered CS5.5. Acrobat 9 Pro worked fine, but X removed 9 during installation. Help!

I'm using Windows 7 64-bit OS SP1, 6GB RAM and have 524GB free on my hard drive, plus over 1TB free on an external drive.

Probleme Textbearbeitung Adobe Acrobot Pro - Drehrichtung

Hallo zusammen,

THANKS

Any additional ways to edit files saved as HTML?

I own Acrobat 9 Pro. It's megacool and today I got to looking at some of the extra features and realized I probably don't have to go out and find a PDF-to-HTML converter. I say "probably" because I just ran a test saving a text-only PDF file as HTML from Acrobat. I've been doing Web design for years, and when I opened up the resulting file in my HTML editor there were problems. Although id does include CSS -- a must-have -- there were still a large number of style settings that needed to be eliminated and all handled by a single CSS selector. I tried doing a search-and-replace in Dreamweaver, which normallly works very quickly even over an entire site, and it started grinding away like my antivirus software does during a deep scan of my hard drives. I did look at the output options in Acrobat, but there was nothing there that indicated I could gain more control over the nature of HTML it generates. Any tips?

Editable PDF's

Hello All

I am looking to create a rate card based on a simple table of calculations and would preferably like to do this in a PDF format to look more professional.  Would anybody know if this is even possible and if so, is there a recommended programme to do this or would I be best to seek a developer?

I have limited HTML knowledge and could probably follow instruction if I could find anything relevant.

Kind Regards

Andy

Printing PDF Files from Web

I'm using Acrobat Standard 9.4.2 on Win 7 (Vista as well). About 50% of the time when I try to print a web-generated form, e.g.. a receipt using Adobe as the printer, I end up with a doc that contains nothing but garbled characters. Is there a fix for this other than using another browser? I use IE9 but experienced the same issue with IE8 as well. Thanks.

What's wrong with Acrobat compression

$

Why is it impossible to substantially reduce the file size in Acrobat Pro (version 9, but vitrually the same problem in all previous versions). I have a file that is 95MB after compression in Acrobat 9. Why is it that I have to open this file in Acrobat Reader, then print it to Adobe PDF in order to get the file compressed (in my case to 1.47MB). Having to do this for every file is tedious at best. And oh yes, trying to print from within Acrobat Pro to Adobe PDF renders NOTHING as a result!

File Size Limit for Tiff to PDF Conversion

$

Hello,

Our company has many large size engineering drawings (mostly 24 x 36) that are scanned in tiff format (Full Color, 300 dpi).  Many of these files are 200-300MB in size.  When using Acrobat 9 to convert them, the entire image/page will not convert.  We are left with approximately 1/2 of the original image.  I suspect we are running into a file size limit, as we have no problem converting smaller size scans.  Does anyone know what the maximum file size for conversion is? (I have searched in vain.)  The print to Adobe Acrobat function will convert the file.

Thanks.

Version History & Workflows deleted in SharePoint

We are working with SharePoint 2007 and Adobe Acrobat Professional 8 & 9 and noticed an anamoly.  Whenever we check out an .pdf file and we leave the "Use my local drafts folder" box unchecked, make a change to the .pdf and check it back in, the version history as well as the workflow disappear.  We also noticed a temp file that gets placed in the recycle bin.  When I restore this file, it appears to be the original .pdf file.  Looking at the workflow history log, it says that the workflow gets cancelled.  Probably because the entire file gets deleted.  Why does Acrobat delete the entire file when making just a little change?
